Letter 2

It is a biblical principle that where sin is aplenty, God
will withdraw from a people. Throughout the Old Testament we see that when
God's people - Israel - sinned and turned away from Him, He allowed their
enemies to triumph over them.
Consequently when they repented and turned
their hearts towards Him, He forgave and blessed them. In fact, God
destroyed the earth and Sodom and Gomorrah because of the iniquity and
abominations that were being practiced by an unrepentant people.
Trinidad and Tobago is today in a degenerative state because of the
abundance of sin in the land.
The Apostle Paul in writing to the Galatians wrote: "now the works of
the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of they which I tell you before,
as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
Sexual sin is prevalent in this land. Recently, teenage girls were
arrested for dancing nude on tables in a southern bar. Pornography
is coming into homes through the internet and airwaves. There are
increasing numbers of advertisements for sexual services in the classifieds
of the daily newspapers.
Family life has been destroyed because of
adultery. Single persons including those still at a tender age are
sexually active. Homosexuality is becoming widely acceptable.
We could easily identify greed and corruption existing at all levels
of society. Idols are worshipped, witchcraft is practiced, false gods
and goddesses are given homage.
The politics of the day is dividing
the nation between the two major ethnic groupings. The ruling government
is unable to enact legislation because of the lack of support from
the opposition.
Murders are being committed at the rate of one a day,
human life is being assassinated and there is an active lobby to
support the murder of the unborn child.
Drunkenness, revelries and
gay abandonment is embraced and supported by a majority as being part
of our culture which is heightened at the feast of the flesh known
as carnival.
It is clear that over the years, the condition of sin has been becoming
more and more outrageous. Just as in Old Testament times, God has
withdrawn His protection and has pronounced His judgment on the nation.
I pray, Father stretch forth your hands of mercies over Trinidad and
Tobago, in Jesus name, Amen.
