Letter 3

Even though judgment is pronounced on the nation as a
result of the outrageousness of sin being committed by a people, there
is a hope for the people of God.
When God destroyed the earth He saved the only righteous family that was
on the earth at that time, Noah and his family. Similarly, Lot was saved
when fire and brimstone was being hailed upon Sodom and Gomorrah.
There is an important lesson to be learnt from these two accounts. Noah
was saved because of his obedience to God. God told him to build a very
large boat. To Noah, it must have been the most ridiculous request that
could have been asked of him. Noah must have been the subject of much
ridicule. Yet, he chose to obey God.
On the other hand, when Sodom and Gomorrah was being destroyed one
could only imagine the sense of loss and sadness Lot may have experienced
knowing that his homeland was being destroyed. Even though the land
was sinful, Lot must have had a sense of attachment to the place he
lived in for many years. Yet he chose to obey God in deciding not to
turn around and look at the destruction that was taking place.
Unfortunately, the same could not be said of his wife who disobeyed
and as a result perished.
God always takes care of His own; that is those who freely choose to
believe in Him and receive Jesus Christ His only begotten Son as Lord
and Savior. But, like Noah and Lot we must walk in accordance with
His ways. We must be obedient to Him.
God's word, His holy bible is filled with many wonderful promises of
His love and protection for us. For example:
The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and
are safe. Proverbs 18:10.
The Lord will keep you from all harm-He will watch over your life.
Psalms 121:7,
and
If you make the Most High your dwelling - even the Lord, who is my
refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near
your tent. Psalms 91:9,10.
These are just a few of the many promises God has made to us. God's
promises are guaranteed to His people. We must believe in them, we
must claim these promises over our lives and the lives of our loved
ones on a daily basis.
Father, in the name of Jesus, keep us your children safely protected
in the bosom of your loving arms, Amen.
